Q: I’ve found a boat I want to buy, what type of inspection do I need?

A: A Pre-Purchase inspection is designed to provide you with information so you can make an informed decision on the boat you are thinking of buying. It will cover structural, safety, mechanical, operational systems, areas of operation and safe passenger numbers. A standard report is designed to cover most of what is needed but additional, more in depth analysis can be done as required. We have a checklist for you and if you require specific areas to target analysis.

Q: How Quickly can I arrange an inspection and report?

A: We are able to commence work generally within 1-2 days, depending upon our current work load. Once we have completed the physical inspection the report is compiled and usually available within 24 hours, again depending on current workload.

FAQ'S

Q: What range of boats does Marine Surveyor Perth handle?

A: We have trailer craft formats for boats 3-8 metres in length. We are small craft and yacht surveyors so we specialise in power and sailing boats up to 25 metres in length.

Q: My insurance company wants a survey, what do I need?

A: A Condition Report is the normal requirement which is similar to a Pre-Purchase inspection but target points and areas of an insurable nature. Some insurance companies will also require a valuation which can also be included. Most insurance companies have their own individualised reporting format.

Q: How much does it cost for a survey inspection?

A: Trailer boats are a fixed fee and for survey and inspection work we prefer to provide a quote. Other Pre-Purchase inspections are based on the size and type of construction of the vessel and quoted prior to commencement. You may also wish to include other services such as non-destructive testing and valuations as required. We provide a written quotation and scope of survey proposal prior to commencing work so you know what you are getting and what you are paying for.

Q: Who does require a qualified Marine Surveyor?

A: If you're close to buying a boat you should get as much information on the vessel as you can. We're on your side. A detailed Pre-Purchase survey report is an independent, unbiased and informed account of the condition and value of the vessel you wish to purchase. Anyone who owns, operates, insures, finances or is purchasing a vessel requires a marine survey or prior to insuring a boat of a certain age, length, or value, most insurance companies require a marine survey.
